My word for January:

January, the beginning of the month, the beginning of the new year! I have already finished January while writing this, but I'll reflect on my month. My word for January:

   MINDFULNESS

In a month of new beginnings, change, and busy schedules. I decided to choose MINDFULNESS for my word this month. I want to focus on being MINDFUL of my emotions, where I am at, and what I am focusing on. MINDFULNESS includes being present in the moment, which is a skill I am working on.

My reflections: I think focusing on mindfulness this month was helpful for my mental health. Starting school again, setting goals, and making routines requires a lot of mindfulness. Keeping up with new tasks and checking in with how I feel is part of MINDFULNESS. Yoga is a great way I can practice MINDFULNESS, as we start with MINDFUL meditations every class and end with them as well. It keeps me grounded in the present moment. Staying in the present, the here and the now, is something that is extremely difficult. Focusing on how I feel, my body sensations and my breathing helps me stay grounded in the present. Another way I work on MINDFULNESS is with the calm app. Every night before I go to bed, I listen to the same MINDFULNESS meditation. It is a 'drifting off with gratitude' recording, which is a nice way to fall asleep. Practicing MINDFULNESS every day is a great way to stay grounded and maintain a stable mindset.

Xoxo,
